As the title might suggest I have at last overcome the after effects of my heart sugery and am feeling fine again once more.
I went under the knife on the 9th of September 2014, now some 14 weeks ago and my health has been slowly improving ever since. From deep pain and depressed states I now feel fully engaged with life and all its beauty once more. Its a wonderful thing.
Blessed to be close to excellent facilities and in comfortable circumstances, I am further honoured to have the love and companionship of my partner Dini. Without her compassion and loving care I would have been in real strife with the onset and resolution of my heart troubles.
We have grown very close and are happy together wherever we may be. Its a fantastic thing.
This Christmas past was the second we have shared together and it too was happily spent with relatives in Northern Tasmania, where Dini comes from.
Yesterday we took Freespirit out into the mouth of the Derwent River for a gentle sail.
This was also the day when the two maxi yachts leading this years’ Sydney to Hobart race came in to finish and we were in the mad flotilla out there to welcome them.
In addition to Dini was an old mate of mine from way, way back David Meikle. I know I have mentioned him before here in a previous blog entry, but he is a keen photographer and was up for a day out on the harbour on my boat so he came along too.
This little jaunt was also a landmark outing for me, post surgery. It was the first time I had taken my Freespirit out for a sail since being diagnosed with heart disease and I swear we both enjoyed it very much.
The breeze fluctuated between 7 and 15 knots, the sun shone brilliantly all day and you found yourself saying it doesn’t get any better than this!
Plans for next year are up in the air at the moment with many possibilites available to us, will let you know when/what is planned when that decision is made.
Till then, Happy New Year and fondest regards.
